Just a Heads Up

May 21, 2014 by Abby 12 Comments

Hello my lovely readers!

I just wanted to let you know that lots of things are going on behind the scenes here. I am in theprocess of moving to WordPress. I’m very excited and super stressed out at the same time! I hope to have the changes finalised over the next few weeks. I’m doing the move myself and have never used WordPress before, so I apologise for any downtime or odd things you see as I make the move.

When it is all done I will have a lovely new site for you. It’s going to be mobile and tablet friendly and have a fresh new look. It’s got easy to navigate menus to make all my content easier to find.  I apologise if the blog is a little quiet during this time, and if you’ve just popped in to see what’s happening, please connect with me on Instragram and see what I’m up to or browse the Recipes, Techniques or Tutorials indexes.

Fingers crossed I don’t break the internet in the process! If you’re already on WordPress, please tell me what your must have plugins are…there’s so many out there I don’t know where to start!

Good luck! I’ll watch with interest. You’re much braver, but then infinitely more capable, than I am. I’ve yet to master my .com lol

You going WordPress.com or WordPress.org. I am on .org

Definitely get askismet. Helps with the junk mail.

    Good luck.

You will need to get a good security one. Don’t go overboard with the plugins cause if you have a problem pinpointing it could be hard as sometimes it could be a plug in causing it.

A good backup plugin a must as well.

I actually have my blogs with wpengine.. You still have to have you blog hosted (I am with hostgator) but these guys look after all the security, caching etc. They add another layer on top.

I lost a blog last year and lost two years worth of stuff.. I just didn’t have the expertise to stop the problem I was having with my blogs.. A few WordPress sites got attacked last year..

Backup buddy is suppose to be a good one.. not sure of the security one – just google and you will find information.

There are other sites like wpengine, but it may be worth looking into.

Oh that’s GREAT! 🙂 Unfortunately I am with Typepad and they do NOT make it easy to move away from them…..After all their downtime recently, I would if I could though! LOLL

none of them make it easy do they?! There is a typepad option in the WordPress.org importer, so you must be able to do it. I have no idea how complication the setup would be after the import though.

I have been looking into it a bit BUT so far it all seems very complicated to achieve successfully ….I will check into it more thoroughly one day when I get the time BUT at this point it all sounds too overwhelming and complicated for me to tackle myself! LOLLL maybe i will just have to wait until i am rich enough to pay someone to do it for me! LOL

Quick and satisfying project today making a brush Quick and satisfying project today making a brush roll for my art supplies. Vintage canvas from the stash (which I think is from a bougie Italian designer). Matching bag to come. Then I can grab and go for my next en plein air session.

Through tending a garden we learn to embrace imperfection and patience. That the reason for everything is the journey not the destination.
My dress for this years @sew_melbourne Garden Part My dress for this years @sew_melbourne Garden Party was the Lucca Dress from @schultzapparel. I adore the 18th Century vibe! After toiling my measured size, I ended up going down 2 sizes and after a few minor tweaks I make to most patterns (shorten and move forward the shoulder and realign the side seams) it was good to go. I was planning to finish the front with eyelets but ended up hand sewing in hook and eye tape. I love the clean look! When trying it on I wanted a little more oomph in the hips so I added some tulle hip pads to the sides. I added in seam pockets too because...pockets! The fabric is from deep stash and originally purchased at the Philips Shirt Factory sale in the city maybe 10 years ago?! It was a dream to sew with! I used about 5m because it was only 90cm wide. I'm loving the result and hopefully the weather plays nice and I get another chance to wear it before it turns cold. The dipped waist makes it really comfortable to wear with room for a big lunch! #schlucca #sewmelbourne #sewmelbournegp #imakemyownclothes
My grandma always grew borage and would put it in My grandma always grew borage and would put it in salads. I didn't know anyone else who made salad with flowers in it (it was the 80s) and I thought she was a magical witch. I'm so excited to finally grow it in my own garden! When buying veggie seeds I found borage on @theseedcollection so couldn't help myself. Witches unite! ✨🌱
Today Ted and I built a step to make getting up to Today Ted and I built a step to make getting up to front garden a bit easier. Used scraps of timber from the old retaining wall. He wasn't a fan of the circular saw but loved doing the drilling and screwing. Worked out just as I hoped! I don't have a builders square, but turns out a quilting ruler makes an excellent substitute.
