Knitting Bag

May Giveaway Day has arrived at Sew Mama Sew and I’m taking part. Bloggers everywhere host a giveaway, and best of all, you can find them all in one spot, so if you’re in a competition entering kind of mood, go crazy!

I’m giving away 2 copies of The Big Tote Bag PDF Sewing Pattern. Because it’s a PDF pattern, this giveaway is open Worldwide!

The Big Library Bag

How to Win:

Use the Rafflecopter form at the bottom of the page to tell me what you would use your bag for. Bonus entry for people who like Things for Boys on Facebook. It’s a great way to keep in touch with what’s happening on the blog. Feel free to leave me a comment too, but only entries via the Rafflecopter form are eligible to win.

I’ll pick my 2 favourite answers who will each win a copy of the PDF pattern. Giveaway closes May 11th. If you’re a winner, you’ll receive an email by May 12th.

Knitting Bag

I’ve made a knitting bag, a library bag and several other bags using this pattern. The page for the knitting bag also has a full tutorial showing you how to add a centre divider to the bag.

Head on over to the Giveaway Day page and check out all the giveaways that are going on!

Hi Abbe I have just found your blog via SewMamaSew and I love it. I think I could spend hours finding so many wonderful sewing hints and recipes. Your Big Tote bag looks great and your tutorial on the inside pocket is very easy to follow. I will add your blog to be one of my favorites and will pop in often. LindaB
ps…I am not on facebook so unfortunately miss out on the opportunity to win that great bag …I would make one for my mum for mothers day, not sure what fabric sounds like I may have to go shopping.LOL more for the stash

This bag will do it all- carry my sewing supplies to a gathering with friends, carry my wholesome goodies from Saturday morning farmer’s market, tote my watercolors for a day of painting outside, or even come along for a day at the pool- the possibilities are endless! I hope I win so my bag can get busy!

Sorry if this duplicates but what I typed in the Rafflecopter box doesn’t seem to have posted… so… I would make project bags [sewing, quilting, crochet] and can see that zippered divider coming in VERY handy, and then I would make others for book bags when heading out to the pool or reading/writing in the great outdoors.

I would use it as a project bag. I’m always working on something. It looks big enough to use as a work bag too, holding my current paperback, lunch, papers, etc. Thanks for the chance to win.

I have always coveted this bag. I think I would brazenly imitate you and make a knitting bag and a library bag. I know exactly which fabrics in my stash I would use for both. Thank you for the opportunity.

What a fabulous bag! I would want as many people to see it as possible so I would use it as a purse so I could have it with me at all times. I would make extras in different fabric to tote around other items like sewing projects, etc. I would make them as gifts as well. Thx for an awesome giveaway.

The FIRST one I would make for me and I would use it to haul to my different sewing groups. Then I would need to make three more so I could have one for EACH group and not have to load and unload between groups. I would keep them by the stairs all in a row, all out of different fabric. Then, I would have to make some for my nieces. BUT ME FIRST.

I have a 2 year old and a 5 year old who insist on bringing half of the playroom with them everywhere we go. Generally I dont mind because they are quiet and well occupied in the backseat this way. Makes driving a bit more pleasant all around. 😉 This would be GREAT to toss in my truck with their toys! Perhaps I could make two and give them each one to fill. If it dont fit, it doesnt go for a ride!

Thank you for the entry into your drawing!

oooh – how awesome is this bag!
It looks perfect for when we go out to Dr appointments etc. Big enough to hold all my normal handbag gear, but also some books for the kidlets to read, a mag or two for me and even some room for my latest knitting or sewing project.

I’d use it for the farmer’s market! I’d also probably lengthen the straps or put on a couple longer canvas straps to fit over my shoulder or across my body. I take my two big dogs to the market and I need as much control as I can get to make sure they don’t steal a tomato off a table!

Thanks for the chance to win! I’d use mine as my daily bag… i have two little boys under three so while i’d like to think it would be filled with all kinds of fun sewing projects in reality it will probably be filled with dump trucks, dinky cars, rocks, sticks, dirt, bandaids… you know, boy stuff. But even if there’s room among the random boyness for my little project bag of hexies it would be perfect!

My dress for this years @sew_melbourne Garden Part My dress for this years @sew_melbourne Garden Party was the Lucca Dress from @schultzapparel. I adore the 18th Century vibe! After toiling my measured size, I ended up going down 2 sizes and after a few minor tweaks I make to most patterns (shorten and move forward the shoulder and realign the side seams) it was good to go. I was planning to finish the front with eyelets but ended up hand sewing in hook and eye tape. I love the clean look! When trying it on I wanted a little more oomph in the hips so I added some tulle hip pads to the sides. I added in seam pockets too because...pockets! The fabric is from deep stash and originally purchased at the Philips Shirt Factory sale in the city maybe 10 years ago?! It was a dream to sew with! I used about 5m because it was only 90cm wide. I'm loving the result and hopefully the weather plays nice and I get another chance to wear it before it turns cold. The dipped waist makes it really comfortable to wear with room for a big lunch! #schlucca #sewmelbourne #sewmelbournegp #imakemyownclothes

I didn't know anyone else who made salad with flowers in it (it was the 80s) and I thought she was a magical witch. I'm so excited to finally grow it in my own garden! When buying veggie seeds I found borage on @theseedcollection so couldn't help myself. Witches unite! ✨🌱

He wasn't a fan of the circular saw but loved doing the drilling and screwing. Worked out just as I hoped! I don't have a builders square, but turns out a quilting ruler makes an excellent substitute.
