Perfect Pattern Parcel: Hudson Pants

October 29, 2014 by Abby 4 Comments

Hudson pants

This latest Pattern Parcel must be the most perfect pattern parcel for me…ever! It contains all the essentials for my mum uniform. I have made up the Hudson Pants and the Syrah Skirt and haven’t taken them off since. Well, only to give them a quick wash, as you can see above. I’ve got the Julia Cardigan pattern printed out and ready to go too.

I apologise for my average photos. We had Roman’s 4th Birthday party on the weekend and along with the icing melting off the cake, I also managed to smash my camera lens. So I’m making do with my iphone camera for now. There are heaps of amazing versions of the Hudson Pants around. Check out some of my favourites here, here and here. They will convince you that you need this pattern, even if my terrible photos don’t!

Pattern Parcel #6: Choose your own price and support DonorsChoose. Win/win

The Ladies Pattern Parcel collection includes: Syrah Skirt by Lauren Dahl, Bronte Top by Jennifer Lauren, Julia Cardigan by Mouse House Creations, Hudson Pant by True Bias, Zsalya Dress by Kate and Rose. Choose to pay $32 or higher for the parcel and you also get the bonus pattern, the Odette Dress by Bluegingerdoll.

About Pattern Parcel:
Here at Perfect Pattern Parcel, we believe in supporting independent pattern designers. It’s our opinion that indie patterns are just, well, better than big box patterns, and we’re pretty sure our customers think so too. So, we allow customers to show their support in naming their own price for each Parcel. We also encourage customers to allocate part of their Parcel price to the charity Donorschoose.org in order to help classrooms in need. Pattern Parcel donates all profits after expenses from Parcel sales to the charity as well. Together we’ve raised $12,000 for classrooms in need.

This is the comfy view of the Hudson Pants that I have. I went with a nice bright cotton, perfect for summer. I’ve got my hand shoved in the pocket in this picture, because, well it’s pretty comfy! And yep, I’m rocking a Wiggles bandaid because that’s all I could find. I measured between two sizes so went with the bigger size. I’m pretty short (5’4″) and these don’t have a lot of spare length in them, so if you’re tall, I would add a bit of length to the pattern. I like the slim fit, it makes them seem less slobby than regular track pants, but still just as comfy!

I’d like to think that my nail polish is cleverly coordinated, but it’s the only colour I have! I wear it all summer long. Want to get an orange on though.

Quick and satisfying project today making a brush Quick and satisfying project today making a brush roll for my art supplies. Vintage canvas from the stash (which I think is from a bougie Italian designer). Matching bag to come. Then I can grab and go for my next en plein air session.

My dress for this years @sew_melbourne Garden Part My dress for this years @sew_melbourne Garden Party was the Lucca Dress from @schultzapparel. I adore the 18th Century vibe! After toiling my measured size, I ended up going down 2 sizes and after a few minor tweaks I make to most patterns (shorten and move forward the shoulder and realign the side seams) it was good to go. I was planning to finish the front with eyelets but ended up hand sewing in hook and eye tape. I love the clean look! When trying it on I wanted a little more oomph in the hips so I added some tulle hip pads to the sides. I added in seam pockets too because...pockets! The fabric is from deep stash and originally purchased at the Philips Shirt Factory sale in the city maybe 10 years ago?! It was a dream to sew with! I used about 5m because it was only 90cm wide. I'm loving the result and hopefully the weather plays nice and I get another chance to wear it before it turns cold. The dipped waist makes it really comfortable to wear with room for a big lunch! #schlucca #sewmelbourne #sewmelbournegp #imakemyownclothes
My grandma always grew borage and would put it in My grandma always grew borage and would put it in salads. I didn't know anyone else who made salad with flowers in it (it was the 80s) and I thought she was a magical witch. I'm so excited to finally grow it in my own garden! When buying veggie seeds I found borage on @theseedcollection so couldn't help myself. Witches unite! ✨🌱
Today Ted and I built a step to make getting up to Today Ted and I built a step to make getting up to front garden a bit easier. Used scraps of timber from the old retaining wall. He wasn't a fan of the circular saw but loved doing the drilling and screwing. Worked out just as I hoped! I don't have a builders square, but turns out a quilting ruler makes an excellent substitute.
